Facilitating Grief Recovery

This workshop will address the grief process for adults and children for all types of death experiences (homicide, suicide, accidents, natural disasters, terminal illness deaths).  Experiential techniques will be utilized to demonstrate children’s responses and unresolved losses, and use of talking, writing, drawing to process loss.  This workshop is appropriate for psychologists, counselors, social workers, nurses, administrators, teachers, police officers, firemen, EMT’s.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

Describe children and adult’s grief process
Identify indicators a child or adult has unresolved loss issues
Model appropriate techniques for facilitate expression of grief, participation in closing rituals, and remembrance activities
Inservice building level colleagues.
Establish a building  and district crisis response team, with appropriate Incident
Command positions
Manage quiet rooms
Establish communication system with colleagues, community providers, parents
